Closed Hearts 7:100

Did He make it clear to those that reside on the land without a contract? Their predecessors were destroyed because of their forbidden actions. In their travels they saw what occurred to those people because of their disobedience. An affliction was placed on them for their sins. Their hearts were closed and sealed for denying the truth which causes destruction and for not retaining absolute validity of intelligence. They preach religious language but are they not reminded of history?

Allah had sealed their hearts because they followed their lusts for power, wealth and excessive physical pleasures. We should instead pursue a civilized life of wisdom, knowledge and understanding of human excellence.
